Privacy Policy
SureVett is a product of Carquinez Holdings LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”), the entity responsible for the data described here. We build tools that help you detect fake reviews and make informed shopping decisions. This policy covers the SureVett Chrome extension, the surevett.com website, and the upcoming mobile app.
Chrome Extension
The short version, in plain terms:
Extension: nothing leaves your device. Analysis runs on the Amazon page you already opened. No server sees the reviews you read.
Mobile app: the link, then only a product code. There is no page for an app to read, so the shared link goes to our server. The Amazon app shares a shortened a.co link, which has to be opened to find out which product it points at, and we do that on our server rather than on your phone so that Amazon sees our address and not yours.
From that point on only the product code travels: the ASIN, a 10-character code like B0H1DDTSDD, and which Amazon marketplace it came from. The tracking tags Amazon attaches to a shared link are discarded rather than forwarded. A third-party data provider fetches that product's public review statistics on our behalf, we grade them, and we send the grade back. Never your name, never an account. We do not record who asked.
Logged out (the default): your price and analysis history stay on your device and are never uploaded.
If you sign in: anonymous product data (prices and analysis results) syncs to a shared cache to speed things up for everyone. Never your identity, never your browsing, never the content of what you read.
The extension only ever requests Amazon's own pages: the product thumbnail, and on Amazon Haul, the same product's standard Amazon listing to complete the analysis (anonymously, without your Amazon login attached). The mobile app requests nothing from Amazon at all — it sends a product code to us, and a third-party provider looks the product up on our behalf. Details below.
Data the extension collects
Product page data (processed locally): When you visit a supported product page, SureVett reads publicly available information from the page: product title, price, rating, review statistics, seller name, and brand. This data is analyzed on your device to generate trust scores. It is not sent to any server unless you are signed in (see below). The one exception is cosmetic: to show a product thumbnail, the side panel loads that image directly from Amazon, just like the page you are already viewing.
Amazon Haul pages: Haul listings publish fewer trust signals than standard Amazon pages. To complete the analysis, SureVett may load the same product's standard Amazon listing, a public page on the Amazon site you are already browsing. The request goes only to Amazon, is made anonymously (your Amazon session is not attached), happens at most once per product every two days, and never touches a SureVett server.
Optional account data: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo from Google. This is used solely to authenticate you and is stored securely in our Supabase-hosted database. The product data you contribute while signed in (prices, analysis results) is deliberately not linked to your account.
Price history: SureVett records the prices you encounter so it can show you a product's price history and flag inflated “discounts” (a list price higher than any real price it has recorded). Logged out, this stays on your device; when signed in, it also builds a crowd-sourced price history, associated with products, not with your browsing.
Analysis cache (optional, signed-in users): Trust score results may be cached on our servers to speed up analysis for other users viewing the same product. Cached data contains product analysis only, with no personal or browsing information.
Data the extension does NOT collect
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not collect data on non-product pages
- We do not sell or share personal data with third parties
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not collect data for advertising purposes
Data storage and security
Extension analysis runs on your device. Mobile analysis runs on our server, because there is no page on a phone to analyse. If you sign in, data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security (RLS) enabled. All connections use TLS encryption. Authentication tokens are stored in your browser's local extension storage.
Third-party services
- Google OAuth: Used for optional sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Hosts our database and authentication. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
Website (surevett.com)
Analytics
This website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. No personal information is collected or stored from website visitors.
Email collection
We collect email addresses only when you voluntarily submit them through our waitlist or notification forms. Your email is used solely to notify you about SureVett product launches and updates. We never share or sell your email to third parties. You can request deletion of your email at any time by contacting privacy@surevett.com. No other personal data is collected through the website.
Mobile App (Coming Soon)
When the SureVett iPhone app launches, the same privacy principles apply:
- The app will not collect personal data
- The app will not track your location
- Product analysis data is processed the same way as the Chrome extension (anonymous, no PII)
- The Safari extension follows the same privacy practices as the Chrome extension
- The Share Sheet extension only processes the Amazon URL you share. It does not access other apps or data.
Your Rights
You can use the SureVett extension without signing in, with no account or personal data required. If you have an account, you can sign out and uninstall the extension at any time. To request deletion of your account data or email address, contact privacy@surevett.com.
Children's Privacy
SureVett is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
